About Brush Plating

Brush plating is a process of electrochemical deposition of metal and alloys. It has 5 unique features:

1.

  • It can deposit hard metals (Rockwell C50 and above) at .001” a minute.

  • It can deposit soft metals at up to .010” per minute.
    2. It can plate to size. That is, plus or minus 5% of the coating thickness. This characteristic makes it referred to often as Reverse Machining*
    3. It is portable which makes it excellent for field repairs or on assemblies.
    4.

Government testing found that the bond strength exceeded 11,000 PSI. This occurs because of the interstitial bonding which takes place because of the pulsating DC current used in the process. Interstitial bonding is what occurs in welding and brazing because of the heat excitation of the electron fields. This process uses low voltage and always operates below 175 degrees F.

    5. More than 50 metals, alloys and conversion coating can be applied with the same equipment.

Reverse Machining* is a WRA Inc. Registered trademark.
